99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall

— 17 Sep 2011 —

Another long day of driving… Most of us were falling asleep as there was nothing else to do. Others were chatting and playing cards. Basically what we were doing yesterday. And I? Recapping on all the events that occurred yesterday.

On the way, I caught a glimpse of the infamous salt pans, beyond the crop farm in the foreground. You can somewhat see it in the background if you squint a little. Although I wasn’t all that satisfied, at least I got to see the salt pans.

Funny signs of the day. We stopped here for lunch and 5 minutes later, a cop rolled up. Just to check we’re not getting attacked by squatters. How nice?

Our base for the night was Itmula Camp. The best things about this camp were the outdoor toilet and shower. However, the toilet is facing the old railway track and people can peep through the wooden stick screen. Oh and I was told it doesn’t flush. Awesome! And what better way to get closer to nature than a long drop? This is all forgotten when you realise you can see the stars whilst scrubbing all the dirt off yourself. Bliss.

That night we revealed a little something of ourselves and finally broke the ice. Mine? Two scars on my right forearm near the elbow from tripping whilst running through the security gate at work. Twice. Needless to say, I won’t be doing that again.

Good thinking Adell!
