[play] Limpopo Predator Park, South Africa

Sorry for the long-awaited post. Back to South Africa…

— 23 Sep 2011 —

As part of my hunting weekend, I was treated to a visit to the Limpopo Predator Park (partly because my PH needed to check on some a piece of equipment on the farm).

We met the owner of the park, Walter (later to find out that he put his own money into establishing this park, impressive!), and he took us on a tour. First up, the infamous playful white lions. The white lion cubs were so so cute. They’re only 9 months old but man, were they strong! They kept pushing me around. Walter also had 2 tame lion cubs which were very playful too.

Having to move on (sad face),Ā  we saw what else Walter had on offer. Caracals, lions, tigers and wild dogs! Oh my.

It took about 30 seconds for these dogs to devour 2 kg of fresh meat.

After the tour, we met two of the volunteers. They were nurturing a 4 day old, big doe-eyed steenbok (?). Follow Kat on her blog and read about how it’s like for a volunteer. Interesting read.

So next time you’re up in Alldays, pop in and see Walter. He’ll be more than happy to take you on a safari drive and let you play with his babies.
