If you are travelling in the Southern Drakensberg region, do not miss the chance to use Khotso as your base camp. It is ideal if you are exploring Drakensberg, day-tripping around the Midlands and venturing into Lesotho.
As soon as you arrive you will be welcomed by the staff, 2 or 4 legged ones, and made to feel like family in an instance. The main house where there dorms are is the old house of *S and *L (who now live up the road on the same plot), who has made it into a homely country-style farmhouse over the years. I have to admit it was the first time I’d felt at home in a long time. Choose from a bed in the farmhouse or a rondavel with an ensuite or even the log cabin, the choice is yours.
I could rant on about this place and the staff but I won’t give you the pleasure. I suggest you go and experience it for yourself. And while you’re there, say hi to the team from me!
