[stay] Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort

If you’re like me, and you miss a bit of the “homely” feeling while on the road, then look no further than the Ponderosa Ranch Resort to warm your socks off.

Conveniently located between Bryce Canyon National Park (south side) and Zion National Park, it is the perfect place for you to settle, plan your adventures (in front of the fire!) and get a home cooked meal in you (it was one of the better meals we had had on the road, made with so much love from Frances in the kitchen – who is now in retirement and enjoying the sun in the south).

We stayed in one of the cowboy cabins which is my ideal kind of accommodation. A log cabin with a porch out front, central heating, queen bunk and a view that went on for miles. There are no ensuites in the cowboy cabins (available in the cabin suites and vacation homes), which was the only thing *E didn’t like about the place, but the shared ablution block is a close enough stroll. Just remember to bring a (working) headlight.

They offer on-site activities such as a climbing wall and zip lining, and scheduled adventures such as jeep tours and horseback riding around the Ponderosa region.

I have spoken about this place to so many people already so please don’t just take my word for it, please pay them a visit. You’ll want to stay longer than expected (like we did!).
